frozen walnut lake

  1. Mum says: Nice shot! I hope you stood on the long wooden walkway. Did you not tell us that the lake is too dangerous to cross? What are those marks on the snow? Skis?/ Remember the sunken coach.......

Not long to go till spring!

  2. The jetty/dock has been taken out of the water over the winter. We were on the ice. The lake is not too dangerous to cross (except when transporting cottages across, the possibly apocryphal story you were alluding to). The tracks you can see are from a quad that drove on the ice some time ago, so people aren't likely to fall in. Even so, it was eerie hearing the low-pitched booms of the ice shifting (which it does constantly because the lake is spring-fed).

  3. Mum says: given the nature of little Tom, mention of the apocryphal story could not come often enough!!!!!! Of course it is ever such fun to run over frozen lakes. Ben & Co. sent lovely pictures of them crossing Berlin lakes. But your reference to booming ice makes me shudder. Perhaps you can plant a tree in the middle, where it is dangerous and Tom will avoid it like mad????
